Louis had decided to re-establish the pond at the top of his garden, but he didn’t want to use PVC or traditional liners. With colleague, Charles, Nico set about dismantling the existing wall, cleaned, repaired and shaped the stones and rebuilt it in its original splendour. Frogs, pond skaters and other wildlife soon returned to the pond, re-establishing their natural habitat and benefiting from the now, clean and steady water flow.

What we accomplished:

1.

Dismantled the existing wall, carefully preserving and cleaning all of the stones that would be reused and sourcing and sizing any additional stones.

2.

Carefully rebuilt the pond and wall along the road, using traditional, French, dry stone wall building techniques.

3.

Ensured that the flow of the natural water source was clean and uninhibited, so that there was the optimal water flow and retention for the pond and associated wildlife.
